She’s only a wee kid.
Watch this space.
Unfortunately, after too many years on this planet, most everything is too easily explained with the caveat of delusion.
The situation with Emma, was regrettably too good to be true. Whilst others may hang on to delusion I have logically moved on. The coach was sacked with no real explanation, a dismissive indifference! I know how important that guy was and I know sod all about tennis, just a little about life’s fundamentals.
To her credit she has both gained and suffered through poor decision making, something most of us could and should relate to.
Winning 10 matches straight to win the US Open in 2021 was just the first part of her tennis career, followed by some mixed results…!
Part two (2023) Reset, she’s now dropped in the rankings, so get out on the tour of which she’d done almost none before winning her title. She’ll learn through playing qualifiers, and if she has ambition, fitness, and hopefully a stable team around her, this 19 year old can win again…
I’m hoping

Emma… MBE
Obviously the bar for MBEs has considerably been lowered.
Tennis player Gordon Reid had to become world number 1, win two grand slams, finalist in 2, semi finalist in 1, and a gold medalist at the Olympics before he got a MBE.
The difference, he’s in a wheelchair.
The leader of our local council got the OBE some years ago…it was known within in the council workers as Other bu**ers efforts
Medals for Sports should be handed out on Sports Day.
Period. It’s their ruddy job to win stuff.
This is becoming a nonsense.
Quite.
I do NOT believe it.
It was more about the comments.
Totally agree with you on this.
And don’t get me started on the Sports ‘non’ Personality of the Year…
To be fair to her I don’t think it’s just for the win, she does a lot for charity and has been campaigning for tennis courts to be free for children. I agree it’s very early in someone’s career to receive such an honour but we can all argue for and against anyone receiving an honour based on our perceptions of them.
