Engine block detailing

Does anyone have any tips on cleaning up the aluminium engine block, there is a bit of aluminium oxide and I’d love to improve it a bit

WD40 usually works.

Thanks do you use a wire brush or anything when applying or after applying?

Can only offer my personal experience. When I bought my 2015 1.5 the engine looked much like yours. I tried various mild chemicals and brass wire brushing but it seemed to have some sort of clear coat. So I tried a small amount of acetone on a rag and found there was a coating which slowly came off. Took a while, and I removed the ignition coils to access the centre well. Obviously, using a solvent like acetone requires care as it can damage paint and plastic surfaces. I finished off with very fine steel wool, again being careful as steel wool leaves a ‘dust’ that needs to be vacuumed or wiped up. Not a five minute job but I do like a clean engine bay, and Mazda have done a great job of making sure the plumbing and wiring are neat and tidy.

I’ve only ever used it for the powdered aluminium on my land rover, I spray it on leave it for a few minutes and then wipe off with a rag.

WD40 seemed to work pretty well for me. Thanks guys
