Engine cuts off whilst driving - HELP

Battery earth??

I’d minutely examine the injector wiring looms as well…and the connectors.
They are beginning to wilt after decades.
I’m on my second ( (1840cc '93 Mk1)…as Pot 1 nearest the radiator was shorting but not before I’d shelled out on a new Coil Pack and a few other bits.
And no…it did not show a fault code.
If you spot plastic sheath failure…
This does not reflect upon centrifugal forces, however it’s something else worth checking anyhow.

Ignition switch? Based on the fact the Immobiliser light is coming on.

Had a further look last night and looked like there was a relay or something resting on a ground under the dashboard.

(Fingers crossed) seems to
Drive ok now!

I was just about to add “or a poor connection in a relay somewhere”…

Well done for hunting it down, electrical connections can be very time consuming to find !
The sill will definitely need sorting, you could just patch for an MOT but best to get an MX5 specialist to cut out the rot and do it properly if you are looking to keep the car.

Hi all,

Thank you for your help.

I have had the sill welded and the inside inspected - to my shock it’s as clean as a whistle!

Lucky me.
