Update: cars been looked at. As suggested above fuse replaced and new relocation cable ordered. I can use the car until the part arrives. Easy fix and no other drama. Thank you all for the input.
Should be âEngine Light Symbolâ Buying all cars second hand, I had no idea what âmanagementâ should incur
As an update to this on going problem.
Rear o2 sensor and wire replaced. Still the EML remains. (P0038)
Mechanic suspects the ECU needs to be sent off for testing.
Just out of desperation I changed the front O2 sensor while I waited for my slot at my local garage which actually improved the running of the car and it became more responsive but at 95k miles it was probably over due to be changed anyway. This obviously didnât fix it how ever removing the code with a ODB tool the EML light stayed off completely until I turned the engine off and once restarted the light came on where as before as soon as I removed the code it would come back on a few seconds later.
Its strange how changing the front O2 changed the behaviour of the error code (P0038) as that has nothing to do with front sensor.
I have left my problem child with the mechanic now for 12 days as its time to escape this horrific cold.
I shall update once a solution is found as I have struggled to find any info online with people having a similar issue so this may be helpful to somome.
