Hi I had a 100 cell cat fitted with a free flow exhaust. 4 days after fitting my engine light has come on, could this be linked ?. Also when cold car seems to jerk when accelerating lightly, but when engine is warm not so bad. Some times the engine revs to 2000 rpm. I have a MP62 supercharger fitted but that was 4 months ago and had no problems untill now. Regards Neil
Can you get a fault code check done to see what cause the MIL to illuminate?
Hi I found the diagnostic plug, but does not look like OBDII or EOBD. I could use the RAC one that argos sells if so, but plug looks different. Regards Neil.
There is a plug above the fuse box under the dash which is EOBD. I take it you have found the one in the engine compartment.
Hi Robbie
Happy New Year
I used fault code reader, and the code was P0420, Cat efficiency below threshold (bank 1).
This must be down to the 100 cell cat that was fitted, is there anyway to bypass to stop this coming on again.
Regards Neil.
You can’t “bypass” it really. That DTC could be generated for a few reasons not just a failed cat. A poor spark or an air leak can cause that fault code. My next step would be to check the exhaust emissions on a 4 gas analyser at a constant 2500rpm. I’d be interested to see the lambda reading, can you monitor engine parameters using your fault code reader?
…just re-read your first post and seen you have an MP62. I believe that the P0420 issue is quite common on this instalation on NB F/L MX-5. Phil at Performance 5 may have a solution for it.
Hi
Have just taken car to M-Tech in Westbury, to have there V4 ecu fitted with rolling road tune and remap, Should be a lot better than the powercard that’s supplied with the MP62.
