Engine oil for mx5 mk3

Hi friends I’ve an nc3 2007 and 43000 on the clock. What engine oil should I be using. I’ve been using Mobil super 3000 5w30 is that correct. Thanks

Yes correct, I always used the FE variant as it matches the specs required for the Ford Duretec engine.
If you’ve noticed there are other 5w 30 Mobil oils available with different specs plus many more brands available in 5w 30

Thanks for the reply. So I can carry on using the one I’ve got

I’d echo Mick’s answer. These were my oil notes for my old NC2 if it’s useful:

Oil spec 5W-30 fully synth
E.g. MOBIL SUPER 3000 X1 FORMULA FE
Meeting Oil Spec - Ford WSS-M2C913-D

So check which Mobil 5w-30 variant you’ve got :+1:

Cheers,
Steve

I would say yes to 5w 30 full synthetic oil but as the manual will suggest to specs printed in there.
Much can be talked about when it comes to oils, which is correct which shouldn’t you use, just follow the recommendations in the manual or online suggestions by say Castrol, Mobil brands.
Which one have you been using?

If you go to the redline every time your out in the car then maybe expensive oil is a sensible option.
I go out every day on small tight lanes in a 1.8 and rarely get above 4K because torque is more effective than revs in my particular situation. I just run on cheap stuff because there is no rational for the pricey stuff as long as it has the appropriate standards that are enforced now.

5w30 is right, but make sure its the A5 Ford spec.

If you buy the Ford logo’ed bottle you get 5 L instead of just 4.

^^^^^ That’s a good price, only four quid more than my Granville stuff.

Under £62 for ten litres. Thanks for the heads up.
