Engine swap Long Nose to Short Nose 1.6L

Will an early (1990) short nose 1.6 engine fit directly with no modifications in a late (1997) 1.6 car with the long nose engine?

It will, but why would you. Better to find a 1991-93 engine.

…or anything Eunos 1.6 long nose crank and pre factory immobiliser MK1(up to 1995) long nose crank.
Read up on short nose crank; asking for trouble fitting one with no advantage.
