Had the CEL come on friday night when I started my mk2.5 up to drive home.
Handy dandy bluetooth ODBII throws up error code P0037 - Rear H02S heater control circuit low
does this mean I need a new o2 sensor? or is it worth clearing the code and seeing if it comes straight back? I have heard mention that it could just be a dirty connection rather than the sensor itself broken…

[/quote P0037 indicates a wiring short to earth. Check the four wires on the sensor for security, continuity and any abrasion which would earth the wire to the body.

Unfortunately a failed heater circuit is very common on lambda sensors. You may be lucky and find a short in the wiring but most commonly it is the internal, non servicable parts of the sensor that have caused the problem and a new sensor will be required.
The good news is that the post cat lambda is diagnostic. It will not have any effect on the car’s running. Never a good idea to leave the engine light on though as it could mask another problem.
