Essex Great Driving Roads ????

Morning

I have been looking on the Great driving road page on the forum and was wondering if anybody can share a decent country lane in ESSEX  for the spare weekends.

You can get that top down wind in your air and really throw the little jem around ?

This could lead to a little run out if anyone wants to join me and show me the way

We do it all the time Andy. Today we had our run to Wallasea and drove many of the roads you speak about.

Keep your eye on the forum here and join us next time.

particular favourite of mine starts in North Romford/Collier Row, through Stapleford Abbots, Passingford Bridge, up to Ongar, through Ongar and heading towards and through Fyfield. Onto Great Dunmow where you can either head towards Finchlingfield or loop back on the A1060 (I think) towards Chelmsford. Whenever I get a new car/motorbike this is the usual route I take.

Have fun - keep it between the hedges Wink

The road from Cold Norton to Bradwell via the first exit on the mini round-a-bout when leaving Latchingdon, I think its called Steeple Road.  When you get there Bradwell is a nice little village, the old airfield is there if you fancy a snoop about and see the spitfire memorial too.

Also worth a mention is the road from Heybridge to Colchester on the B1026 or turn-off to Mersea Island just before Great Wigborough and head over to the Company Shed for Oysters before the causeway floods and then shooting back home!

Unfortunately rural Essex is littered with lots of pretty villages which whilst they are lovely places, generally mean one has to slow down to 30mph way too often!

Which bit of Essex?  Out my way in NE Essex, these are pretty good:

Colchester - Bures - Halstead - Hedingham - Wethersfield - Finchingfield - Thaxted

Also   Manningtree -Wrabness - Harwich and loop back through Thorpe

And  Colchester - Mersea - Peldon - Maldon

Was going to ask the same … and mention many of the same roads as you’ve mentioned !!
North Essex has some super driving roads.
