Esure

Hi,

You really need to ignore this company. My main family Volvo is insured with these bandits, when I wanted to change to another identical car it cost £66 until 7th October when it runs out! I said no that’s too much please cancel my insurance and I’ll get a new quote.

Certainly sir, that’ll be £55 !  Money Mouth I thought they give you money back if you cancel. So in the end I had to bend over for 66 ruddy quid.

Their short sighted greedy ways have lost them several customers. Moral is, make sure when you get insured that you know the costs of “customer care” whether leaving or changing.

This company also puts an excess of £10 on my wife as a named driver!! That’s never happened to me before and there are about 4 other excesses making a total of about £450.

Oh and don’t forget the windscreen REPAIR cost which is £20!!

Give this company a wide berth.

Yes they also add an extra £200 to the excess if you use other than their approved repairer. They all have their faults though I think Tom. We have 1 car with Esure and 2 with their sister(!) company Sheilas Wheels. They are very competitive if the car is standard and they have very good British telephone help as we found when we needed to claim this year.

In fact the company we are claiming against at the moment, Swiftcover, is known for being very difficult to deal with even in the industry and will only communicate via post - no phone calls even from other insurance companies - so imagine what they would be like if you needed to claim!

Another difficult one I found a few years ago was Adrian Flux where everything’s an extra and needed listing each year and I lost about £60 when cancelling to change car - nothing back at all. On the other hand few others would insure the car I had at the time so I think we just have to accept they all have their pros and cons.
