- My model of MX-5 is: 1993 1.6 Eunos Roadster
- I’m based near: Guidford
- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Should I/Shouldn’t I?
I have seen people recommending an “Italian Service” as being good for the engine. Does this apply to a 1993 Eunos Roadster? My natural driving style is not to do this, but should I for the good of this engine? If so, what sort of treatment would be good, and how frequent? Ta.
If my experience is anything to go by there is a rev limiter that stops you bending the valve stems or sending the pistons through the bonnet. It feels like a driving instructor braking for you. Don’t rely on it though. A previous owner might have removed it.
When you hear folk getting 200+ out of a turbo’d mark 1 then red lining a stock engine should be fine. Just make sure it’s warmed up first and is generally well maintained.
