Greetings forum. Have been advised that the centre section of my NC exhaust is pretty ropey and may need replacing before the next MOT. I need to get under it and take a good look to see the leaks for myself. It probably wasn’t helped by me giving it a big ‘clonk’ on a rock or similar on our Spanish road trip last year. Anyway, the car has the BBR Super 200 conversion - it has a BBR GT backbox and their catted 4-1 manifold but the centre section is original. If this bit does need replacing is there any tangible benefit of replacing it with BBR’s stainless centre section with high flow cat or should I just stick with an oem part. Obviously there’s a cost implication - just not sure it’s worth it having it BBR all the way through. Thoughts much appreciated.
The usual place is at the weld on that centre section, it rots then just parts company.
So just free it off from the back box cut and sleeve the new one over the existing/remaining section.
Only problem, they are out of stock but obviously check if this is the part that’s gone.
An alternative to that part above is This One it’s also a bit cheaper and deletes the resonator into the bargain, I’ve recently fitted one to my NC and I haven’t noticed any real difference in noise or unwanted droning from the exhaust.
Thanks Mick / Khelan, I’ll look into both options. I’m also wondering if there’s any significant advantage re performance and sound with a larger diameter pipe such as the BBR one - I already have their manifold and back box so why not complete the set-up (apart from the cost implications obv)!
