It won’t slip nicely over the original pipe that you have cut back. Overall it lines up nicely but you will have to try and take some metal off either the male or female items to get the pair to get over the split casing of the female item to get a seal. It’s a pain but a lot better than having to replace the whole section that includes a cat. I haven’t seen an aftermarket item.

On my TT site there is a bloke with a similar talent. Just when your about to drown they come up with some info or diagram that saves the day.

Just another thought on this. … This is only offered for the NC on the MX5 Parts website. So is this a weakness just for this model?
I was just five miles from home but it could have been a holiday wrecker, especially on the continent. The repair section is heavier gauge than the original so could be worth changing as a precaution?

Me? I wouldn’t. A huge wrap of exhaust blanket tape would probably get you though.

Back on the road again and I’m thinking the car is a little quieter. Is it possible that is because of the new resonator or maybe I had a small blow hole before the whole thing separated?
Other thing that might be useful is the old exhaust gasket is still doing good service. I’ve a new one but the old is fine. I swop my exhaust between OEM and ILMotorsport approx every six weeks or so it’s obviously a mult-use item.
