- My model of MX-5 is: NC 2.0
- I’m based near: Netherlands
- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __
I might have to buy another header due to a broken converter. As I want to keep passing emissions I am looking into an after market catted header. BBR GTI is really expensive, especially since Brexit is a fact now (add 21% to their retail price for taxes). The only other option I’ve found is I.L. Motorsport one. But I have only found experiences with the decatted header. Anyone got some input on the catted header?
Also, is there any difference in stock exhaust system between the 1.8 and 2.0? I’ve got another stock header laying around from my previous 1.8 but I have a 2.0 in my car right now. What about centre pipe and muffler pipe diameter? I have looked into this also but I can’t find any information on it. Not even in the workshop manuals that I’ve found.
The 1.8 will fit the 2ltr, no problem.
You’ve got this pricing thing wrong though. If an item in the UK is advertised as £120 inc VAT then you will pay £100. When it arrives you will be asked to pay the £20 VAT. I’ve based that on 20%, if it is 21% for you then it’ll be another 1%.
Ah right, that’s true. Still, the BBR header is about twice the price of the I.L Motorsport. I’d rather get the I.L.manifold and I.L centre pipe than only the BBR header.
And I appreciate that you can use the 1.8 litre exhaust on the 2.0 engine, it’s been running with 1.8 centre pipe and muffler. And I have a header laying around coming from a 1.8. But that still doesn’t answer the question wether the hardware is exactly the same
If it isn’t then this might be a good opportunity to change it for something else.
I’ll be more exact: The complete 1.8 exhaust is exactly the same as the 2.0.
Great, thanks. Then I’ll at least have a spare if the problem is with the converter in the header and not in de centre pipe!
