Factory mud flaps

  1. My model of MX-5 is: ND2
  2. I’m based near: __
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __

New member and new 2021 MX5 owner here. Has anyone fitted the factory mud flaps to the front and rear of their car?
If so, do they have any photos, I’d be interested to see how much they actually protect from stone chips.

Thanks, John.

Hi and welcome, they are very small (probably only 5cm) and very expensive.

Not mud flaps really, but they will protect the leading edge of the sills and rear bumper from stone chips.

Have a search around the usual outlets and see if you can get them cheaper, eBay, Amazon Mx-5 parts etc.

I, and some others, made my own. If you search it’ll probably come up. I made them earlier this year as I didn’t like the Mazda ones,

Thanks for the photos and info😊

Thanks😊

Hi, did you fit these yourself?
I’ve just ordered some from MX5 Parts and wondered how easy they are to fit😊

All the Mazda parts come with good instructions.

I didn’t fit them, they were on the car when I bought it.

Looking at them I think they use a lot of the existing plastic clips in the wheel arch liners, but this guide suggest you have to cut a little bit of the plastic at the back.

Thanks for the info, it looks a little bit more involved than I’d imagined. They are on the way now so I’ll have to get on with it, luckily I can use a lift in a friends garage.

Ordered them of MX5 Parts yesterday lunchtime and they arrived this morning, wow they are small, but better than nothing.

Definitely more “cosmetic” than “practical”, I had them on my ND SE-L Nav because they made it look “Finished”, if you know what I mean. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Has anyone tried ND Mazda Miata Chip Guards 2016-2023 – Megachip ? They come out to about £125 including shipping excluding any import duties you might get stung with, so about £40 cheaper than the OEM and feedback on other forums seems quite positive.
