I am finding it just about impossible to obtain fibre washers the size I need. I have tried all the plumbers merchants and engineers suppliers locally with no success. I need two sizes, 24mm inside diameter, 28mm outside diameter, and 30mm inside diameter, 34mm outside diameter, about two dozen of each. They are not a ‘standard’ size evidently and while a number of companies supply boxes of assorted sizes they never include the sizes I need. I have found websites which will make to special order but on contacting them they are only interested in large orders of at least hundreds, preferably thousands. Does anyone know of a company who could supply these washers or direct me to a website. I would have thought that someone would supply them in increments of say 1mm, but I can not find anyone. All suggestions gratefully received.
Hi Geoff, I would go to your local garage and ask them as they usually have a man in van who visits them at least once every week with all sorts of workshop consumerables they maybe able to help
Send me an Email about them to remind me to have a look at some I use on my Lathe and I will measure them for you to see if they are the size you are looking for.
Thankyou for your replies everyone. I went to Anchor Hydraulics last week and Mel said he would try to get some washers for me, called in again today and he is still trying! So we shall see. In the meantime if anyone has any more information or a website I would be very grateful.
Well we have seen! Yes Anchor Hydraulics can supply the washers! Cost £53.25! for a few fibre washers, I would think they should be gold plated at that price! So the quest continues to see if the said washers can be obtained at a reasonable price.
This assorted kit has the 24x28 washers you want in it, 20 of them. Probably worth getting the kit to get the size you want compared to that price you’ve been quoted.
I have just read your thread again and I have dug out the price I paid for some similar washers in 2000 and they were then about 32p each which for 24 pieces would have been £7.68 x 2 =£15.36, so what with inflation etc your quote of £53.25 may be about right for special size washers. Is it possible for you to buy a sheet of the material and cut them out yourself? It is possible to buy sheets of gasket paper but I am not sure about fibre washer material.

Probably the same problem with the larger sizes but just on the offchance if you look in the Toolstation catalogue page 303 they do a few packs of assorted fibre washers but they don’t give all the sizes.If there is no Toolstation outlet near you look on toolstation.com or call free on 08081007211.They may have what you need or can point you to a supplier who can help.Good luck !
