Soft Top

The videos should apply then.
The prht grill doesnt have a hole big enough to use a trombone cleaner but the soft top does.

The videos make it look easy, but the first time is hard to locate- I cut one brush off my trombone cleaner and crewed 3ft of net curtain wire on with a small I in the lead end. The eye and wire easily find the drain hole- slightly inboard and forward of the hole in the gutter tray. Remember only take the cleaner down from the top, don’t pull back as you will updater the one way flap in the drain tube.

Thanks for all the help will have another go over the weekend

Is it possible to use an airline from the top?

I’ve found a wet-vac from underneath is very effective for PRHT.
Seal the drain outlet to vac nozzle with your hand.

If it doesn’t clear instantly, plug the outlet with some newspaper pour a little bit of warm water with a drop of washing-up liquid (ie wetting agent) into the drain to soften the blockage for half an hour (and a cuppa), remove plug and try again.

I’ve tried looking on the net, to no avail, to discover where exactly the PRHT drain holes are…and how to clean them.

There are various descriptions, but most of them say the holes are quite hard to find. So written descriptions haven’t been much use so far. What would be very helpful is either a video or photo with a pointing finger (or arrow) straight at them from above and below. To be honest, a video would be more helpful since close up photos often don’t give you the exact context of where they are….only what they look like in close up.

Somewhere I did read the PRHT drain holes rarely get blocked, compared to the soft top that is. So one owner said after 7 years of ownership his were still completely unblocked.

That may be true for most PRHT owners, but I’d still like to know where they are, top and bottom, if anyone is prepared to make a quick video with their phone going from a wide shot to where they are in reasonable close up. I understand it’s easiest to access them with the roof half down.

I did mine last year and they were covered by plastic mesh, which I removed and easily put back into place after cleaning.
Part open the PRHT until the rear windscreen has just started retracting and they are on each side just above the door shut line.
You will see the drain pipe and they are just below it.
I cleaned mine with the MX5 Parts Hood Drain Cleaning Brush and only used from top to the underneath. Pulled through and repeated.

Thanks. Did much come out when you cleaned them?

Virtually nothing. I suppose the mesh helped a lot though👍

to find the outlets at the bottom, lie alongside the car, feet towards front, head by rear wheel.
Reach under the car without stretching and your hand should feel a vertical surface facing away from you, other side of wheel ‘tub’ that is facing you. Feel around a bit with fingertips and you should find the pipe which stands a little proud of the surface.

Yes, just tug sharply at the grill with fingertips and it should come free.

as said, the grills will click back into place quite nicely

Courtesy of RichardFX the pic below show the exit point under the car for the drains.
Never poke anything up there  always from the top and pull out of those exit points:+1:
Note position around where that bracing bar bolts to the chassis…
