Finish up in the back on an Ambulance

Before the end of our February Run we will have seen Fire Engines, Police Cars and members could finish up in the back of Ambulance

The Sunday Run will be finishing at The National Emergency Services Museum in West Bar, Sheffield.S3 8PT

The run is starting at 9:30 for 10:00 at a new venue, The Dearne Valley Farm at Birdwell S70 5SZ, directions at the end of this email

They serve a Traditional or Vegetarian Breakfast at £3.95 or a full Farmhouse breakfast at £5.95 along with tea and coffee. Lesley and I called in there very briefly on Sunday dinnertime when the restaurant was very busy, the manager made us very welcome even though he was extremely busy and clearly harassed.    Let’s give it a try as a starting point and see how it goes.

Our route will take us briefly on the A616 to Deepcar from where we follow side roads recently resurfaced for the Tour de France to Moscar passing close to the Strines Reservoir. From there we drive alongside the Ladybower Reservoir for several miles to our first break location. We then head to Bretton, where hopefully we should get some panoramic views, and then on to Hathersage, Ringinglow and Sheffield City Centre, where I have arranged to park on a friend’s car park, if other cars are trespassing on his private car park we can use the council park across the road which is available at £1.00 for the afternoon.

The National Emergency Services Museum is a tardis, it contains many interesting vehicles and other exhibits, along with several enthralling video presentations. Many of the vehicles are open for members to get into.

Rides around the locality on a vintage fire engine are available for a small donation.

Sorry for safety reasons you will not be able to slide on the firemans pole!

Sunday is the last day for The RNLI’s Hope in the Great War exhibition commemorating the centenary of the First World War at the museum.

I have booked a restaurant for Sunday Lunch at about 2:30 , cost  from £6.00, Cluck Restaurant has good parking it is just outside the City Centre,

The run is approx 50 miles long, there will be a P & T stop after about 1 hour into the run. Entry to the Museum is £5.00 each for groups.

A route card is now at http://pp.mx5oc.co.uk/Emergency_Services_Route_February_2017.pdf  please download it and bring it with you. (or if you are able, sent it to your mobile phone as a pdf)

If the weather is not kind, the route can be shortened at various points, (or we could just stay in the pub and go directly to the museum when it opens!!)

We hope you will be able to join us
