I fitted some bonnet lifters and marked up where the arms were originally so that when I put the bonnet back on it would be aligned…however it hasn’t quite worked out.
On the driver’s side it appears slightly higher than true and on the passenger side it appears slightly lower. I have tried adjusting the driver side black rubber stopper but it is at its limit.
Any ideas?
You need to persevere with it.
I fitted a fibre glass bonnet to mine about 3 years ago and it was an absolute nightmare getting the shut lines to align, i spent hours dremeling the bolt holes and adjusting the rubber stops, only to do it all again after having to take the bonnet off for respraying.
If you can, disconnect the wing parts of the gas strut and align the bonnet without any pressure being applied then if you can refit the struts.
