I have fitted a set of TA Technix coilovers and even with them wound fully up car sits way to low, am i missing something. Yes i am a girl and yes i have fitted them myself. I have fitted shocks before, including my husbands shocks on back of his drag racing TT Nissan 300.[he is disabled] So i am not a total novice on cars. I just wondered if anybody else has come across this. Thanks Diana.
Which model car did you fit them to?
NA 1.6 Eunos 93.
They lower the car by 35mm-70mm apparently, so at least 35mm lower than standard. Is it more than that?
Did you use the original spring seat as per the instructions?
Top mount yes, the standard one.
It is that low wheel is barely clearing arch with spring seats wound up full.
If it has dropped by more than 35mm, something is wrong. Are you sure they are the correct ones for your car?
Are they a complete set? TA technix have 2 springs on each unit, One which is the main spring and another which is much weaker and mounts in series with the other as a helper spring, probably to keep some loading on the spring at full drop so the main spring does not dislocate.
If this one was missing it would be a bit lower, but not sure if that would account for the seemingly huge problem you have!
I removed a set from my Eunos and they lowered the car to about 315mm front and 320 mm rear arch lip to wheel centre when they were set in roughly the middle of their adjustment range.
If they realy are as low as you suggest then surely they must be the incorrect ones?
Steve
They are the new version as sold by uk no1 tuningshop which just have a single spring.
I’d suggest going back to them to ask why your car is so low… It certainly shouldn’t be.
Avatar now shows how low.
It certainly looks very low indeed. What size are those wheels? Are they the same radius as the standard 14" / 60 profile? If so, as said there is something up so you need to talk to who you bought them off, assuming it is now lower than the 35mm drop that is specified (it doesn’t take a second to take a tape measure and measure from arch to wheel centre - and we will then have an idea of how low exactly it is)
Wheels are 205-50-15, i have emailed seller with photos.
Measure it!
From wheel arch lip down to the centre of the wheel, even a rough measurement will give some clue as to how bad it is.
I asked a question about ride heights on here some time ago and got a lot of very usefull advice from the members here.
You need to know what height it is so you are armed with credible info to give the seller when complaining.

Sorry but i need to be dead honest here, it’s because they are cheap nasty coil overs, and nothing down to how you have fitted them, are the aduster wind right down?

Probably the wrong springs were sent with the kit. Must have been a spectacularly short set of springs. Worse than riding on the bumpstops, its riding on the coils.
Pictures would help for the comedy value, because the springs must be fully binding, with the car going nowhere, ie. the car has no suspension.
Wow…I’ve just seen the price. I’ve spent more than that on a single shock for the back of a pushbike!
Why would you want suspension that costs £50 a corner? £20 of that is retailer profit, £10 is VAT…doesn’t leave a lot to spend on materials or workmanship.
I’d rather run on ruined originals than put that on my car.
Also know as ROKKOR…Racelands plus other names , when they first hit the bay ,a full set posted was the dear sum of £120, nutz lads went made for them and the price went up, same stuff just dearer.

£30 a corner including VAT???
Sorry but…that’s like walking into Asda, spotting a ready-made lasagne for £1 and going “yummy…yes please!” not even stopping to think how they make a lasagne with 10p worth of raw ingredients… And we all now know how. It’s one thing eating dobbin, another thing buying a tenner’s worth of components and machining to keep you on the road.
