Fitting front fog lights into a MK2.5

Hi folks,

I’d like to fit a pair of used front fog lights into my Mk2.5 - is the wiring already in-place for the lights and the switch?  I’ve spotted an unused connector just behind the off-side (drivers) headlight and was wondering if that is for the fogs…

Ideally I’d like to be able to simply fit the lights, plug them into an existing connector, fit the switch and plug that into an existing connector - is it that ‘easy’?

Thanks,

Dobbs.

It is for the air conditioning, you will also have two unused multiplugs forward of the airfilter.

I have front fog lights as standard fit on my various Imprezas to date, on our Suzuki Jeep and on the Mk3. I also fitted them on various Golfs and Polos.

To be honest and we live in the country where it can be foggy , I find them of no more use than dipped headlamps because headlamps made in the last 30 years have sharp cuttoffs and fog lights were there for pre sixties headlamps that had little beam controll and tended to cause dazzle to the driver.

Hi Geoff - thanks for the advice.  Don’t suppose either of the unused multiplugs are for fog lights, or to put it another way is the electrical wiring in-place to allow fogs to be fitted?

Thanks,

Dobbs.

Pretty sure the answer to this is no as I’m looking at fitting front fogs to my Mk2 also and when I asked someone who has done the same on a couple of his cars he advised me that there is no existing wiring. So I’m expecting to have to wire something in specifically for the job and I would guess you are in the same boat. The good news is it’s no more difficult than wiring in a rear fog light and plenty of people have done that on import cars.

Thanks,

Dobbs.  No, sorry, they are also for the air conditioning.  I do not think you will find any wiring, fuses or the relay.  They are certainly not in my car.

Not a problem if the roadster does not have the loom…

And fitted and working…

I used a double fog light switch(but a single MK 1 rocker type will do) and the ring ffog/spot light wiring kit from ebay.

Shout if you need any advice
