Fitting in-dash sat nav unit to a Mark 2.5 Arctic

Hi there. Would like to fit a double DIN sized sat nav/radio/cd player to my Mark 2.5 Arctic. Has anyone got any experience of doing this? Any words of wisdom, hints, tips would be greatly appreciated. Particularly want to know about the gps aerial as the car obviously doesnt have one.

Thanks for any help.

Its is really very easy. First buy an iso lead to convert the car wiring loom to fit the new stereo. There are loads about on ebay and Amazon

Watch the video on you tube on how to remove the original stereo

Any wires for GPS receiver can be run behind the glove box and past the door seal on the passenger side to on top of the dash or window. I have to put a GPS unit and DAB antenna on the windscreen on the passenger side. All the cables are easily pushed out of sight.

The choice of what to go for is the most difficult part:

  1. buy an expensive head unit with built in GPS

  2. Buy a head units and buy a separate GPS Module (this can be very expensive)

  3. buy a head unit that uses can sync with your phone (Android Mirror etc.) so you plug your phone into the stereo and the stereo uses the phones sat nav, just make sure you do not have to buy a separate module to make that possible, in some cases it can be £200 just for a little box.

Good luck, if you get stuck feel free to PM me.

Ian - many thanks for the info. Much appreciated. It’s on the list of things to do next year after the rear wings and sills get done in january.
