Fitting MK3.5 drivers door card to a MK3

I’m just about to take delivery of my first MX5, a MK3 2L Sport. I’ve been reading around and comments were made that the cup holder in the drivers door presses against your leg when driving and it is annoying over long periods and that the MK3.5 fixed the problem.

Planning ahead I was wondering if the MK3.5 doorcard can be fitted to the MK3 thus solving the issue? I’m not bothered about being a cupholder down.

Wouldn’t it be better to drive it a little before trying to swap the door cards. I don’t have trouble with them, I’m average height.

Doesnt bother me either, but a mate of mine who had a MK1 had a drive in mine and he complained about the door cupholders rubbing on his leg.

Door holders are no problem. Centre console ones are the ones I had issues with. Replaced with a proper cubby box with a 12v feed.
