Have searched the forum but cannot find my answers; so posting this, hope its in the right place.
I have a flashing yellow airbag light and a steady (On) red light.
Car is a Mk2.5 2003 Mx5.
Had a flat battery recently which was cured with new belts and a jump start, also the passenger seat was removed to recover some lost stuff, could those 2 things have caused the warning lights to come on?
Can I reset these lights myself or do I need someone to connect an OBD reader/reset device.
The Yellow light flashes 4 long and 5 short flashes.
Many thanks guys
P.S. managed to use the radio code 1414 to get the radio going again thanks to the posts on that problem.
Check that passenger seat is connected with wiring.I dont have codes to hand but its likely suspect. We have all the bits anyway if you end up needing something replaced.Google the flash codes and sequence and it will tell you exact item
MX5nutz had a post that lists all the codes, a 45 is “Poor installation of center D sensor” where is that, do you or anyone know?
On NB, code 45 is open circuit between passenger occupancy sensor and SAS module (air bag control unit). Is the passenger seat plugged in?
Yes it is plugged in now, It was unplugged when the seat was unbolted to retrieve something that went under the seat, had been unplugged for a number of days before I re-connected it. Would a code reset/clear do the job?
You’ve got another fault then, the light will clear itself when the fault is fixed. Could be a faulty sensor, wiring or SAS unit.
Had another look under the seat that we (My Son) removed. I had plugged in a plug but found a second connector un-plugged.
That cured it. Thanks very much for making me look a second time. The first one I plugged in must be the heated seat plug and the second found must be the passenger sensor for the airbag. Result.![]()
