Flashing DSC and Solid TC Light

  1. My model of MX-5 is: 2012 NC2
  2. I’m based near: Blackpool
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Flashing DSC and Solid TC Light

The map light in my car wasn’t working but the bulb appeared to be fine, so I was testing it with a multimeter. I turned off and restarted the car to find that the radio wouldn’t work, central locking wouldn’t work, and the DSC light was flashing and the TC light is solid. After some investigating I replaced ROOM fuse under the bonnet and had my radio and central locking work, but the DSC and Traction lights are still on.
I noticed that there is a small amount of water on both the passenger footwell and driver’s footwell, so I’m led to believe it may be the scuttle grommets?
Could there also be another fuse that needs to be replaced? I’ve used the diagram below but I can’t figure out what the DSC and Traction control fuses could be.

Have you tried starting the car and turning the steering from lock to lock stationary?
This will reset those lights, after doing the above switch off then on again, should be clear.
Scuttle grommets need sealing, search function will help you to find out what needs to be done.
Above everything else check the secondary fuse box inside the car, it’s at the bottom of the passengers ‘A’ pillar, you’ll see a small flap door to remove. These can get water ingress from those leaking scuttle grommets and need drying out. Could be another possible reason you are getting warning lights on the dash.

Worked first time!

For anyone else who comes across this post in the future, here’s the instructions I found

a. Ensure ignition switch is in the ON position.
b. Confirm that the DSC indicator light illuminates and that the DSC OFF light flashes.
c. Turn the steering wheel to full right lock, then turn it to full left lock.
d. Confirm that the DSC OFF light goes out. (DSC indicator light illuminates)
e. Turn the ignition switch off.
f. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position again, and confirm that the DSC indicator light goes out.
NOTE:
• If the DSC indicator light does not go out, turn ignition off, disconnect and connect the negative
battery cable, and then perform the procedure again starting from SUB-STEP “a”.

I guess I should replace the grommets sooner rather than later. I think I’ve found the parts on mx5parts, and there seems to be plenty of guides to do it.
