Floor mats for MX5 Kuro

Just collected my MX5 Kuro and noticed it does not have any floor mats. I know the Kuro came with floor mats designed for that edition - does anyone know if you can still get hold of them? Due to passage of time and the number of limited editions Mazda made for the NC I am not very optimistic but just thought I’d check.

Probably have more luck finding Unicorn poo……
Maybe an eBay search and failing that, get a custom embroidered set made.

Hi steve711,

I can’t help with mats but does your kuro have any Japanese markings such as kuro - クロ - くろ - 黒 ? This means black.

Sometimes kuro has an extra ‘u’ - kurou and has different meanings,

I can create unicorn poo in my colonlaboratory if you need some?

Authentic certification supplied!

I think mats in my Kuro are original so you have a visual clue - Drivers:

Looks that the flash on the mats is to echo the decals on the side of the car:

Good luck in your search, but per previous comments, I think you will struggle. I suspect that these were not sold as spares even back in the day

Hi Ofiaich

Interested in your comments and have checked around the car this morning. The two badges on the wings just say “Kuro Edition”. Couldn’t find any of the Japanese symbols you mention where should I look? I did find eight labels with the VIN number seems to be one on every panel!

Thanks. Yes I’m sure those would be the original mats that echo the theme of the car. Pretty unlikely that I will find a set now as others have said. I’m going to check with the supplying dealer that they weren’t removed when it was valeted and then not replaced. Otherwise will probably have to settle for some more standard mats - not a biggy as the rest of the car is very original.

No Japanese text on mine either.

I wondered if there would be! I know Japanese names such as Homura are used! Homura can be written as 炎 or 焔 and in Hiaragana ほむら and Katakana ホムラ and means flame, blaze, and also flames (of intense emotion, e.g. love, jealousy, anger), passion

Many people think Miata is a Japanese word but I think it is from the High German Language word "miete"and means “reward” or “prize”.

As you say Kuro (黒) means black.

Which is obviously why my car is white!
