- My model of MX-5 is: __na
- I’m based near: _ north coast. n ireland_
- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __ fog lamp /aux lights o/e loom connection point at front of vehicle???
seeking assistance from those here who are au fait with the issue mentioned, i think i have come across a connection plug point on the n/s inner guard in area where the ECU connection plug is sited just behind the headlamp…is this a place where i could begin to plug in a separate relayed loom to power up either 2 fogs or 2 driving lamps . leds by the way, less current draw…
As far as I remember the plug you have found is just a 12v supply for an inspection lamp etc.
The plug you need for front lamps is on the o/s or drivers inner wing but not all cars have it.
Mine has this loom and it terminates behind the switches on the right of the steering wheel with a socket that fits the dual f/lamps & HRW switch.
The lamps have a dedicated relay & loom but again they are difficult to find.
The plug looks like this.
I guess you could make one up if you are able, either way good luck.

Dave are you saying that the relay and fusing is down on the inner A post area where the totally impractical small inside fuses are sited and you need a narrow japanese contortionists frame,no shoulders, the steering wheel off, a mirror and a torch and snipe nosed pliers to replace a fuse…its the most difficult fuse box access of any vehicle that i have ever worked on,me i’m 5 10. 47’’ chest, big shoulders and arms and i nearly had a panic attack the first and last time i ventured in there…w
Nope, it is under the bonnet the fuse box that you can see is the main one next to the brake servo.
From what I understand not all 5s have this connector just the JDM models.
Good Luck
