1. General Disclaimer
- Your Risk: Any work you do to your car is your responsibility.
- No Liability: The MX-5 Owners Club is not liable for any damage or injury resulting from advice found here. Always consult a professional if you are unsure.
2. Membership & Accounts
- One Account: Users are allowed only one account. Multiple accounts will result in a permanent ban.
- Paid Members: MX-5 Owners Club members get full access. Non-members have restricted access (e.g., no “For Sale” ads).
- No Stealth Business: You cannot register a business name as a username to bypass advertising rules.
- Valid Email: You must use a working email so admins can contact you.
3. Forum Conduct
- Search First: Use the Search function or Technical Guides before asking a question.
- Keep it Civil: Disagreements are fine; rudeness and “soapboxing” are not.
- Road Safety: We promote legal driving. Do not discuss breaking the Road Traffic Act.
- Off-Limits Topics: No posts about personal/relationship problems, politics, religion, or sex. These will be removed immediately.
4. Moderation
- Authority: Moderators can move, edit, or delete posts to keep the forum organised and family-friendly.
- No Public Arguments: Do not start threads to complain about moderation. Use the official contact email for grievances.
- Discretion: Rules cannot cover every scenario; admins reserve the right to take action to prevent disruption.
5. Inappropriate Behaviour
The following will lead to temporary or permanent bans:
- Bullying, insults, or threats (public or private).
- Hate speech (racism, sexism, homophobia, etc.).
- Trolling, “flaming,” or posting meaningless gibberish.
- Doxxing (posting others’ private contact info).
- Belittling other MX-5 clubs or communities.
6. Private Messages (PM)
- Privacy: Do not post the contents of a PM publicly without the sender’s permission.
- Reporting: If you receive a threatening or inappropriate PM, report it to the Admins.
- Admin Access: Admins reserve the right to view PMs if a complaint is filed.
7. Advertising
- Selling: Only MX-5 Owners Club members may post “For Sale” ads. Ads must include a price and a real photo of the item.
- Wanted Ads: Any registered user can post a “Wanted” ad in the correct section.
- No Spam: Do not use PMs to unsolicitedly sell goods. Technical advice should not include self-promotion.
- Formatting: No “How much is this worth?” threads (unless you are a member) and no cross-posting the same ad in multiple sections.
8. Contact & Reporting
- Report Posts: Use the “Flag” button to alert moderators to bad behaviour.
- Formal Complaints: Email webadmin [at] mx5oc.co.uk.
