Has anyone fitted anything like this before? I keep looking at the spider that ties both sides of the floor together (Gomiata maybe?) and that has a similar rail that the spider fits between.
I’m thinking it may be £99 well spent if it helps reduce the dreaded scuttle shake, especially if P5 follow up the rails with some form of cross brace. When I waxoiled Betsy’s nether-regions last year I noticed my rails are pretty ropey, scuffed and bent in the middle, one too many speed humps methinks!
P5 are highly regarded in the MX5 tuning world, so I doubt that they would sell anything that they haven’t tested personally. Sounds like a good £99 to me
“They are so strong, that in simulated testing a 1000N load only deformed them by 62.83 microns” so thats the deformation from a fat man standing on one end - what about realistic loads like, say, the weight of a car.
They may be awsome, but that kind of wishy-washy-not-quite-useful-but-initially-sounds-impressive marketing guff makes me angry. I’m sure it may reduce up to 100% of scuttle shake…
Let us know how good they are when you’ve fitted them, we need an independant test. One thing is for sure - if they make a significant difference they will sell hundreds at that price.
Japanese companies like RS Aizawa have been doing these for years, usually as part of a vehicle refreshment programme. They just seem to use a simple C-section.
I’ve emailed P5 for some further info; will they be producing an accompanying cross brace to close in the transmission tunnel, do the rails fit the full length of the original ones, will I have to remove the carpets and seats to fit etc etc.
I think for £99 I’m willing to be the lab-rat on this one, just don’t tell Mrs E!
