Front Bumper Trim Plate

Just bought these for my Mk1 as somewhere in the mists of time mine have been removed.

Now need to fit them, I can see the nuts at the outside edges by the wings, and I can see a couple of domed screws which need a hex wrench to remove them.

So what are these domed screws called (apart from the obvious), where do I buy them and how many should there be.

Also noticed a front bumper top seal, any one got a photo of where exactly this fits. I have the Mazda workshop manual but none of the above is covered.

As usual many thanks for any thoughts.

Am I right that you want to replace the trim plates that have the rubber seal built in? They fit along the rear edge of the bumper and are held in place by the nuts you mentioned at either end and (from memory) 9 crosshead self tapping screws.

If so it’s this part (well one half of them,comes in two half);

I’ve found the 9 crosshead screws to be a pain to undo as they rust and the head chews up fairly easily.

I replaced mine with stainless steel screws with a No10 thread. I can’t remember the length of the screws I’m afraid but 16mm seems about right.

And I did go out to the car to take a photo of where the part fits, but unfortunately the battery on the camera died so here’s the only photo I can find that shows the trim plate, not sure if it’ll help. Someone else may have a better photo.

That’s absolutely brilliant and many thanks. They only arrived late this afternoon as it was going dark, so did not have much time to investigate. I replaced the nuts last year with Stainless so they shouldn’t be a problem but I did not have time to remove the screws to see if they were screws or bolts.
The photo shows it all and is as I expected so I will order one after the festivities, again thanks for your help it is what makes the forum so special.

I’ve just sent you a PM as I found I still had some spare stainless screws I used to replace the rusty original trim plate screws.

If you give me your address I’ll pop some in the post for you.
