Front bumper trim question

can this part be attached to the car without the removal of of whole front bumper ? ( can it just clip in as it is ?) any help would be very appreciated! (ND1) ‘the trim where the number plate usually goes

I want to say “yes”, but I haven’t tested it at all.

I would have said “no” if you were trying to remove it as the clips really need releasing from the back; but if it is just fitting I think you might get away with it.

Taking the bumper off to do it isn’t difficult (I have done it 3 times to 3 different cars), what has happened to your existing one?!

Hi , my current gloss black trim is covered in holes from previous plates and grilles etc so I’m looking to just replace that part so I can run some removable plates for shows etc , I have now been informed that this trim part can be pulled out ! , the only downside being I will have to order a whole new grille as the gloss black trim part is not sold separately new but £70 for a whole new grille isn’t so bad . I will remove the new one from the new grille and take the old one off my car and just clip it in ( I’m hoping lol ) without having to take the whole bumper off which would be a lot of messing around for such a small part !

I have fitted the Carbon Miata Spyder Grille in all of mine which means I can remove all evidence of a plate for shows (although I usually forget to :man_facepalming:) but £70 for an OEM grille is much cheaper!

Good luck

Haha yes the carbon miata spyder grilles are very nice and thank you !

I doubt you would be able to without removing the bumper to be honest. But for what its worth bumper removal on these is not difficult, some cars are hard to remove without flexing and putting hairline cracks in the paint around the headlights, this isn’t the case on the MX-5 and it comes off pretty easily.
