Front wheel MOT advisory

Checking the MOT history of a 10 plate NC at a franchise dealer, the latest MOT has an advisory of “ * Front Road wheel slightly distorted (5.2.2 (c) (i))” for both front wheels.

Can anyone suggest what this might relate to as I’ve never seen this before? It seems a little strange it’s been raised for both front wheels, and am wondering if it might be serious?

TVM!

Would appear that they don’t rotate and show completely round. Perhaps following incidents with pot holes or a trip up the kerb?

Franchise dealer; Insist on a new set of wheels. The wheels on my Alfa Romeo were like chocolate, and all ended up distorted. Are the wheels OE, or aftermarket?

Wheels are stock 17” alloys.

Looking a bit further back, it had an MOT fail 3 yrs ago for both front tyres being cut to the chord. Again, happening to both tyres seems a bit weird? I wonder if it had an “incident”?!

It’s a shame, as it’s a nice low mileage car in good condition, with a full Mazda service history carried out bang on time every year.

Most Alloys with low profile tyres that I see are not round, it is just the way it is.
Stuff happens to cars, it gets fixed, all is good again.

It must have been quite excessive to be flagged up visually on an MOT though.

I recall that many Rota wheels are not exactly round from the fatory, but they have a better rate than other aftermarket wheels at the same price point.

Price up 2 front wheels the same design off e bay, double it, add on £25 per wheel to swop the tyres over then, if you are really interested in buying tell the Dealer he will need to drop the price by at least that much for a sale.

There are some refurb specialists who can fix an out of round wheel. I once successfully trued up a distorted ally rim on my little Suzuki (also noted as an MOT advisory the year after I’d bought it, although I’d certain not kerbed it) using a block of wood cushioned by a cloth, and a club hammer. I’ve owned the car seven years now and it’s never come up again.
