When it came to dismantling the front end of my NA I made sure everything was bagged up correctly However, the bag with the bolts for the front wings has gone missing. I’ve tried to order these, but it seems nowhere in the UK has any, and even in Europe they don’t have enough stock for a full set for both sides.
So my question is: can anyone help as to what the technical specifications of part 90796-0612 are?
M6 X 10mm flanged bolt with a M6, 18mm outer diameter washer. Maybe get the bolts 12mm long
The Mazda ones have a tappered tip to the bolt to assist starting the thread, I do not know where you can get them but plain ones will do.
Material grade 8.8.
Use copperslip on them. Do not use the crap stainless steel bolts on ebay as they cause differential corrosion with the bodywork and tend to snap if a car hits the wing which you do not want to happen.
You need to visit a specialist nut n bolt supplier, or an engineer’s merchant like J.R.Webster or Lloyd & Jones, (both prevalent around places with big docks like Liverpool). Try searching for “fastenings and fixings” on tinternet…
Where are you based, have a box full of NA bolts and fixing from our Exocet build I’m sure they will be in there, I can get my son to identify them and dig them out, he’s the expert
That’s what I did when I renewed both the bumper/wing bolts and the smaller self tapper type ones holding the undertray to the bumper on the mk3. Took in one of each and they supplied the correct length and pitch for me, unfortunately the flanges aren’t quite as big as OEM so flat washers were added. All looked good in position though. That was in Leeds by the way, another centre of heavy industry back in the day.
