Yep. well posted. An old filter will be full of a gel like glob. The filter doing it`s job correctly all is fine. If however the filter element should fail, that glob flow through and be amongst your injectors etc in the blink of a eye. Worth doing as a good bit of preventative maintenance for sure. Even if all is running ok now.
Especially if you use the minimum spec supermarket petrol.
Very good advice. I have a mk3 and have just looked at the service schedule and there is no mention of replacing the fuel filter. Does the NC not have one r is it not a routine replacement job?
Mk3 Fuel filter is in the fuel tank as part of the pump assembly. Use V-Power to keep it clean.
It was one of the first thing I looked for when I bought my Mk3, as changing it regularly on my other (high annual mileage) cars was beneficial on cheapest fuel. On my Mk3 neither the service history nor European service schedule mention any changes of fuel filter. However in some other parts of the world it is to be changed at 60,000km, and I am assuming that is the same one and not a more accessible external one.
