a neighbour appeared at the door this morning worried about a growing puddle under the mazda - "smells a bit like petrol !"
i got the car up on ramps and it turns out to be leaking from the drain plug area (major relief it’s not a replacement tank job - that looks like a lot of work)
does anyone happen to know if the plug should have a crush washer and if so, what size ? mine is seeping, no matter how tight i fasten it.
also what size flexible fuel hose connectes to the fuel filter ? (i took this off to drain the tank and it needs repleced too)
and finally what is the coating on the outside of the tank ? the leaking fuel has dissolved a patch which i will need to repaint (the metal beneath is pleasingly healthy though)
cheers,

For the washer and pipe speak to andrew at autolinkuk.co.uk.
As for the stuff on the tank ,its mazda’s underseal, you will be able to cover it with a good coat of smoothrite black paint, don’t be shy with it,and while your at it bang a load on the back end were mazda never put undercoat.
