I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Main Fuel Line__
Hello all,
My Mk1 has just passed its MOT but there are advisories on the Fuel pipe which is corroded Nearside Lower. Is this a full replacement front to back and a metal part? Is it a big job to do and are there any pitfalls.
I guess at a minimum you could inspect said pipe to see how bad the corrosion is. Sometimes advisories can sound worse than seem.
I had my Mk1 brake pipes advised, the tester said it’s light rust and he had to scrape away the underseal to find it in parts. He advised painting over again, after inspection by myself I did just that they were fine. With it being an important line on the car I guess like brake pipes, safety first.
If you’re not happy with how they look replace, try Autolink, Mx5parts or of course a Mazda dealer.
Back in the early 80’s before advisories, i was told at an MOT that the car passed but one of my brake lines was corroded and would need replacing.
I wire brushed it, daubed it in grease where it passed a further two maybe three MOT’s without comment before I traded the car in.
