Fuel pump replacement part

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __1.8 Eunos Mk1
  2. I’m based near: __Sheffield
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __Fuel pump

Have replaced fuel pump with a Walbro unit which I gather is a good unit. Problem is that it is noisy which I imagine isn’t an issue for track use but irritating when car is stopped or driving slowly. MX-5 Parts don’t sell a fuel pump for the 1.8 and I am struggling to source an OEM pump which I imagine would be quiet. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Denso was the original supplier; whats generally sold is just the pump and not the whole assembly. DeatschWerks seem to be highly regarded on miataforum. Its the pump used by Flyin Miata

Moss has a one size fits all Cobalt brand, which means its Chinese

If you want the original Mazda assembly, part number BPE8-13-35Z, then this US Mazda dealer is listing it as available, so likely its still available through your local Mazda dealer.

That is a great reply. Thanks.

I prefer to source from UK so the BOFI Deatschwerks looks like a good option and from their description should be quiet. When I fitted the Walbro it was the motor only and quite easy to fit. Rodders had suggested I buy the whole unit from MX-5 Parts but they don’t seem to do this any more for 1.8 (and it was a very expensive part ). I have managed to source the original type sock now ( BOFI again).

Would be interested if anyone has any personal experience of any of these particularly in relation to noise levels.

Cheers
