the motorway and the fuel light come on , i drove about
5 miles to get to the petrol station but I was worried
does anyone know please how many miles
u have after the light come on?
Easiest way to work that out is to look haw many litres your tank holds fill it to the top drive it till the light comes back on then fill it up noting how many litres it takes to fill back up and then deduct that from tank capacity and that should give you the amount I’m gonna guess about 6 litres or just over a gallon if ya old school like me
My MK3.5 has approx 9 litres (2 gallons) left in the tank when the light comes on.
How many miles you will get will be directly related to how much fuel your car has and what mpg you get with the light on!

On our way home from France the other week, I said “I bet the fuel light comes on soon”.
5 miles after passing the services, the fuel light came on.
The needle was still showing about 1/8th of a tank, which in a 50l tank is about 6 litres.
Probably enough for about 45 miles I’d say.
I drove at least another 20 miles with the fuel light on.
Of course this all depends on your driving style, and if the light has just come on, or been on a while and you didn’t notice.
