Fuel tank drain plug NC

  1. My model of MX-5 is: MK3 1.8 Venture Edition 2013
  2. I’m based near: _Barrow-in-Furness
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Draining my fuel tank.
Does my NC have a fuel tank drain plug?
AI says it does, but I can’t see one (had a quick look).
My car has been standing still for 26 months with a full tank of E05 in it.
It still smells like fuel when I open the fuel cap, but I am thinking it would be best to remove that old fuel, and any potential debris from the bottom of the tank.
What would be the best way to do so if there is no drainage hole/plug?

Cheers

Personally I’d just run it.

I’m tempted.
Then keep topping up frequently with new fuel until diluted.

Stick some fuel stabilizer in the tank and run it.

I recently had a (in tank) fuel pump failure just after a fill up. I tried to siphon the fuel in the time-honored way by sticking a tube into the filler and sucking out into a container. It didn’t work and I ended up siphoning directly out of the tank from within the car. This requires a lot of dissambly.
Give it a go with the old fuel. What’s the worse than can happen? Nothing damaging would be my guess…

Obviously don’t run it dry to get rid of old fuel, just dilute it as you have suggested.
