I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: 4-wheel alignment
I have now covered 16,700 miles in my 30AE and the rears are down to 3mm tread. So I am going to ditch the OEM Bridgestones and plan to fit the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6
National Tyres have quoted £455.57 for all 4 fitted.
However I think worth having a full 4-wheel alignment done to make sure the car handles spot on. Not sure how good National would be with that.
Are there any recommendations for someone who really knows what they are doing with our cars? I am prepared to travel for someone very good.
Paul Roddison transformed the handling of my nd rf when i first got it. Needs new boots at 12000 so is going back at the end of the month to get sorted.
New tyres, track, courner weighting plus a few upgrades.
Id highly recommend seeing him
My recommendation too. About three years ago he set mine up for what he referred to as “fast road use”. He also supplied & fitted my Uniroyal Rainsports at the same time. These two things transformed my car. It drives like it’s on rails. Well worth doing, well worth the journey!
I shall try to ring you tomorrow - I meant to today but work was manic so never got chance. I assume no need for me to use National at all as reading the above, I see you can source and fit the tyres also
I’ll be intrigued to know how you get on with those Goodyears. I just did the same , now 1000 miles in and it’s like a different car. Smoother ride, less noise and almost too much grip if that’s possible
I am booked in with rodders, 22nd October. I don’t like to lean too hard on brand new tyres until got a few miles on them, so will give ou my view after a few days with them
New tyres fitted and alignment sorted by Rodders.
I had never been there before, but it was exceptionally easy to find. Leave the M1 at the Meadowhell junction, follow A631 and you see it on the right (You have to drive past it and come back at the roundabout)
There had been quite a lot of rain the night before, so def the right time to get rid of my worn rears, but not best perhaps for testing after.
However even though I was being sensible, I can say that even just driving away, on the first roundabout and on the motorway, it feels much more direct in the steering. Changing lanes was enough for me to notice an improvement!
By the time I was nearer to home (almost 100 miles from Roddisons), weather was better, so instead of using the A-roads for the last few miles, I headed cross-country on some twisty B-roads.
Very happy. I already loved the car and felt it handled really well, limits lower than some of my other cars, but fun and predictable handling. So although I was expecting more grip from the tyres, I wasn’t expecting that much more given my positive impression of the car already. But it is very noticeable how much improved it is and given the way it turns in and balance, I feel this is not just due to the new rubber - Paul’s set-up plays a big part too.
As recommendations go - let’s just add that I shall be taking my NSX up there in the spring to get the alignment done by Rodders too
I did indeed. Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 and upped to 215 rather than the OEM 205
Just over 2wks on and I still am amazed at the improvement. So much more confidence when pulling out of the junction to turn right near work, on wet muddy rural roads in November. Can actually put the extra power down rather than having to ease off the throttle so much to prevent spinning up the wheels.
Same as me although I stayed with the same width, it’s like a different car. It will be interesting to see how long they last . The Potenza was a very average tyre in comparison
