Hi All, I have a Mk3 2008 and understand the colour is Galaxy grey, VIN number is JMZNC18F600149683
I have a small bit of damage on the front bumper and have just had some paint mixed at Halfords and it is is a dark grey rather than the car colour which more a blue’ish grey.
Halford agreed that the paint they mixed is different to my car and also that my car paint work is not faded. They said if they mixed the paint again it would be likely to be no different so they gave me a refund
I am at a loss to know what to do, perhaps Halfords incorrectly mixed the paint, perhaps the car is not Galaxy grey.
you need to go to a car paint specialist, even tho your car is galaxy grey (paint code 32s ) there are different shades, so he will match your car to the little swatch cards they have and mix a paint to match.
To be honest guys the plastic bumpers are rarely an exact match with the rest of the bodywork (especially with the Galaxy Grey models). The issue is the paint process is different for the plastic bumpers and the metal bodywork of the car (cure temperatures etc). Even if you get a good match for the car body it may not be a good match for the bumpers. You need to go to a car body repair shop and get them to analyse the bumper colour and give you the paint mix for the correct match.
