Garmin webcam replacement?

Hi everyone,

I have front and rear Garmin dashcams 45 and 55 but the screen on one of them now has stripes down one side,

Time to replace these! Two questions- if the power cable port is the same as the Garmin, can i use the Garmin cable?

What front and rear dashcams do you use and recommend?

Thanks,

Ofiaich!

In the MX-5 I have the NextBase 322GW with the ‘cabin view’ camera which works as a rear camera in a car the size of the MX.

We have a Garmin in the other car and I think the cables are the same, if not adapters are available.

For both cameras I find the software for the phone to be fairly awful, mostly related to getting the right bluetooth connection so more about the amount of different signals/devices around and isolating to the correct rather than the camera itself.

Thanks IanH,

I will check the NextBase 322GW out!

I have the NextBase 380GWX in the other car!

Screen problem, Garmin 55…

I fitted a Garmin mini2 dash cam, I ran the cable behind the trim. I didn’t want a distracting screen and its small enough to fit alongside the rear view mirror.
Works perfectly does what it needs to do

Thanks Squibnockect1,

I see there is a Garmin Mini 3 too. I looked at these. I dont find the screen distracting,

I will decide in the next few days.

Are the recordings affected as if not why do you need to buy a new one. I don’t look at my dash cam unless I need to review footage so the screen could be blank and it wouldn’t concern me.
With the money saved not buying a new camera, buy more beer :beer_mug:

Hi Teleman!

I will go for a spin this afternoon and check the footage!

Hi Teleman,

The footage is OK but the socket on the other Garmin is broken! Plastic holder in the Garmin unit for ball joint is broken so it’s not stable!

I will need to be creative with a fix!

Try one of these or a dab of superglue. Once it is setup, it never needs to move again.
