Hello,
Has anyone used the Ford / Motor craft Fully Synthetic Gearbox 75W-90 oil?
in their Mk2/Mk2.5? It seems to get amazing reviews on the Australian/USA mx5 forums.
They reckon it is very good at low temperatures, making 1st to 2nd changes from a cold start much easier. Also seems to help with the notchy gear selection.

The Ford Oil Specs/Codes:
75W-90 (GL4)
USA code no. XT-M5-QS
UK Ford part no. WSD-M2C200-C

I am thinking of trying it out.

I have it in my mk3, has been talked about alot over on Miata.net. Gear changes from cold are ok.
Yes,give It a go.
The viscosity figures are pretty much identical to Castrol Syntrans Multivehicle so good low temp performance.
Will it improve your gearghange? Probably, depends what you have in there at the moment, but no harm in trying it.
If you do try it, give it a 500 miles to bed in before praising or criticising, I found this when changing to Redline MT 90.

Assuming that’s the one that costs around £18 per litre then I think that’s as good as you can get
Yes its the £18 a bottle one. I will give it a go and report back. I have Castrol Syntrans at the moment and that is not great in the cold weather.
I will give it a while to bed in ![]()
