I have a 1997 Harvard. Does anyone know if a Gearbox undertray was fitted as standard to this model.
I am told that it was only fitted to late models and the earlier ones won’t have the fitting holes, but how late is late?
Any info appreciated.

The MK1 had an engine undertray fitted - there was never a separate gearbox undertray fitted to the MK1 or early style Eunos.

If you go to your Mazda Dealer and ask them to look at the parts system for the later MK1 you will find what looks like a gearbox undercover similar to that on the Mk2 cars. Cars from 1994, Bodywork, Bodyshell, Floor Attachments
The parts number is NB75 56 1A0A
I do not have the VIN number of the car, you do not have but that you think exist.
If you can get the VIN number of one of these cars that would help you when you go to your dealer.
As above, did not see any mk1 with gearbox under trays but maybe photo may hel;p as we have some gearbox under trays but think they are all mk2/2.5 possibly
Something in the distant past says there was a particular regulation in Switzerland in the 90’s about noise emissions from cars that most manufacturers got round by fitting fit additional under trays on cars bound for there.
On the other hand, I thought that Switzerland basically carbon copied all the EU regulations but was not a member of the EU!
That’s incorrect, my 1997 mk1 1.8 uk car is fitted with the padded gearbox tray as well as the engine undertray.
NB75 56 1A0A in theory would relate to the NB MK2?
I found this…
The picture shows a part in front of the standard engine undertray that looks a possibility - marked 56-111
Hi Rob, interesting website all the same. Most websites dont sell parts that are NOT popular as you know
You are right Rob but they don’t have a price and are not selling any of the variants as far as I can tell. I couldn’t find any other references to this part on google.
Did you see that another poster has one of these on his 1.8 car, typical, lol. All I need now is for a Harvard owner to confirm that one is fitted to their car too - I feel the need to lie down in a dark room:-)
So why were some mk1 mx5 fitted with a gearbox undertray?
What year is your harvard?
My apologies - I have found out I was wrong about the gearbox undertray in the most embarrassing way possible - my 1997 MK1 1.6, owned since 2002, has one fitted. There is a gap between the engine tray and gearbox tray to allow access to the engine sump plug.
So we have a 1997 1.8 and a basic 1997 1.6 fitted with this part. Seems a reasonable bet that a 1997 Harvard should have this part.
No the illustration 2 was the standard engine under tray. The parts number that, I advised is the gearbox undertray and is illustrated on the parts diagram as and is illustration number 1.
Illustration number 1 on the parts diagram says 56-111, same as number 2.
Another reference to this part would be useful.
I happen to have my gearbox undertray removed as I’m currently replacing quite a lot of the suspension.
There is a serial number on my gearbox undertray which reads: NB75-561A0
That part number tallies up, variant A. I think the tray is probably similar for MK1 and MK2.
To add some amusement to proceedings…

This has not been one of your better days.
You first deny the under tray existed.
Then you find one on your car!!!
You say that a parts number starting with NB must be from a MK2, wrong I’m afraid and my 99 MK2 made in late 98 has rear shocks have a parts number starting NC. The car is not an NC.
Then you misread own find on the internet and do connect illustration the parts numbers are referring to.
I hope the exploded parts diagram I emailed you with was clearer.
As you are running a car business you are able to register on the Mazda European portal and look up the info direct on the Mazda parts system rather than trawling the net for links.
The diagram you emailed me showed exactly the same detail as the link I posted on the forum considerably earlier - did you read my post? Part is marked 56-111, clearly wrong and confusing.
The NB is MK2, NA MK1 and NC MK3 so logical that parts marked are for these particular cars - anything else is confusing, particularly when back compatible.
I have a bad day so I email you personally to explain and wish you well, post an apology on the forum and try to find out more detail to help the OP but thanks for compounding it with your last post - appreciate the support m8!!!
