Genuine Deluxe Floor Mats - No Clips Provided ??

Can anyone advise please?

Just received our genuine (and expensive) Mazda mat set part code NG36-V0-320A

They fit fine but was shocked to find no fitting clips that fix the mat to the car and stop them sliding about.

The holes for the clips are there in the mats.

Are you supposed to buy an extra clip kit or am I missing something from my parcel.

Don’t suppose anyone has any new spares they would part with

If the clips are separate does anyone know the part code for a set so I can check price and avail.

All other makes of car we have bought factory mats for have come with the clips so seems strange.

Thanks from Mark

What Mk car do you have, you do not say in your signature

I have a Mazda clip if you want it (fits Mk1/2/2,5) but looks unversal so may fit Mk3 PM me if you want it

Ok I have a reply from the selling dealer now.

He says the MX-5 NC should come with the retaining clips for mats already in the vehicle.

Suggested I should look in the glove box (after 8 years I don’t think so).

The part number is C830-V0-329 and I am going to have to get hold of 4 new ones to fit them properly.

May end up just fitting the drivers side with the clips and only using 2.

I now need to investigate the factory carpet and see if the clip insertion slots are pre-cut or I need to cut them myself.

Anyone got an answer on that one ??

May post some pics but I think there have been some other threads re. this in the past so sorry if it’s boring.

Carpet Mat Securing Clip

98p MX5 parts.

Thanks safety but I think my mats have round hole - not the slot type in your pic.

I got some of those type kicking about somewhere - but thanks for trying.

Mark

Edit, beaten to it above but here goes…

These are available but read the description

My drivers side mat has just the single fixing hole which marry up with the supplied (in the car) fixing peg. It’s different to the one shown in that link above although still oblong, no pic I’m afraid.

My mats, note no fixing for the passemger side.

I also have a rubber mat set, they have a non slip backing and work very well although I still have a single hole fixing on the drivers side.

Hmm, I bought a spare set of correct mats with the logo for my NC Niseko and the single fixing strap was included with the instructions in a smaller bag inside the sealed bag with the two mats.  This flat strap with the knobble sticking up is anchored by a screw in the cross-member under the middle of the driver’s seat.  No fixings for the passenger side, although there is also a single screw waiting unused in that cross-member.

Edit. Here is a photo of the strap still in the bags.

That offerred in my previous post came from MX5Parts and is identical to Richard’s, so why did you not give me a reply (yes or no)?

Hi Frog,

Thanks very much for the kind offer.

Could you just bear with me whilst I finish off researching and see whether I can persuade the mat supplier to ship me a set out first ??

Good post & pics thanks Richard

Many Thanks from Mark

I think there is a difference between a Mk3 and a Mk3.5, I have a Mk3.5 and it is fitted with the 4x round mat fixings that the OP is looking for, I believe if you have a Mk3 then it only has the single centre fixing, couldn’t say if it is round or rectangular as never looked that close but I know the mats between the versions of Mk3 MK5 have different mat fixings.

Hi MarkFT,

The clips [Part number C830V0329 four contained in pack as your photo] fitted my MK3 NC mats with round holes [2Nr in each mat] exactly. If you feel the fitted carpet infront of the seats you will find there are pre-cut indentations for the clips to be fitted, you will need a stanley knife to open the indentations to take the clips through the fitted carpet.

I obtained my clips from S Jennings [Dave Garth] in Stockton, Cleveland [01642 632200] for the princely sum of ÂŁ3.96 inc. of VAT and Postage. This was in Feb 2014 so the price may have gone up.

If you require the fitting instructions please PM me with your Email and I will forward to you.

Regards TT

Thanks Top Tenor

have sent you a pm.

so I have now acquired two of the offending clips.

looks like they feed through a slot in the carpet and then the two halves clip together somehow with the carpet in the middle.

have found two pre-cut slots in the carpet which will probs need opening up slightly to take the clip.

stand by for progress when I have the email from TT with how the clips are supposed to work and whether I need to make more holes for the clip catch to get through.

Ok I now have a pdf document with fitting instructions for the 2 hole type mats.

Have fitted the drivers side with the retaining clips and we will see how we go from there.

Many thanks to all contributors.

I will try and work out how to share the pdf on here somehow.

Is there someone in admin I could email it to ?

or I will try and link it to a dropbox download for everyone.

My 2008 NC had two slots pre-cut on each side for the clip to be fed through.

I then used masking tape on the carpet where the front of the clip is supposed to click shut through the carpet.

Pushed down hard and cut a further slot where the imprint was in the masking tape.

Seemed to work ok.

*** check your pegs line up with holes in mat properly before making the new holes for the clip ***
