Geometry Check Costs ???

What are most people paying for a four wheel alignment with adjustment ?? Just out of interest !!

WIM has charged me seemingly random sums each time I have visited; around about £90-100, though last time I was there, after 5Speed couldn’t sort out a run-out problem with one of my wheels, they charged me about £100 for 45 minutes of fiddling around, with seemingly a before/after print out of all 4 wheels (which sounds to me like an alignment check and adjustment), and then some lackey tried to offer me an additional “bargain” alignment check/adjustment on the same day for “only” £75. I’ve since found out my local Alfa specialist, with the same grade of kit, and experience in setting up race cars, can set the car up for £60 (and the owner’s other car is a MX5…). £100 seems to be about average; though Northampton Motorsport could supposedly do “alignment for life” for £200.

I paid a little under £60 at Chemix, in Halesowen, last Spring. Seemed to do a good job, it did make a difference.

Hi

Got mine done at Exchange Tyres Middlesborough after fitting the lower springs to my mk3, no adjustments necessary so only £25 - great

Bob

Supertyres in Maldon give free alignment checks to OC members and then charge only for the angles they adjust.  Full alignment with OC discount is normally around £50.00.

i do my own joys of working as an alignment tech .

the company i work for charges the following

front toe £25

rear toe £20

cambers £15

caster £15

when you get mx5’s in, do they all need the caster adjusting? i have tried to measure mine, but i’m not sure how to get an accurate measurement. i was going to leave it for now just to see how it was

i have been quoted up to £70, depending on how much needs adjusting. However, as all 4 of my wheels were pointing in different directions, i have nothing to lose, i am trying to set it up myself. Its a good way to understand how it all works for a novice mx5 owner. if i cock it up, then i’m going to fork out the £70.

I went to WIM on Monday and it cost £95 plus VAT £114 in total.

1st visit to WIM  Aug 08 26kmiles,lots of adjustment=£85

2nd                      Sept09 37kmiles,check up and small adjustments=£40

3rd                       Mar11 48kmiles,check up and small adjustments=£51

All ex vat.

First time change was amazing, felt a completely different car, also had 4 new tyres at first and 3rd visit.2nd visit due to a perceived problem(bump steer)turned out to be a broken drop link.

Went to E.Grinstead WIM contact and same as Andy £114 - a great improvement .

Who did you use in East Grinstead?

STS Tyre Pros - very friendly and the coffee`s good too !

I think there is a lot of difference between some one that
sets cars up for motor sport doing the alignment and someone who fits tyers for
a living doing it?
