Getting a spare transponder key--NA (MK1) NB (MK2)

Mazda wanted a total of £110 for a new key to supply, cut and code the transponder chip

A Timpsons shoe/key shop supplied, cut, and were able to read & code the transponder for my car - cost £30

Elsewhere on the forum other members with mk1’s + transponder also had theirs successfully cut and coded.

So far we know that the following cars can have new keys made successfully by non-main dealer:

1996 Mk1 with Transponder
1997 Mk1 with Transponder
1998 Mk1 with Transponder
1999 Mk2 with Transponder
