Previously NC Z-Sport and the ND2 owner in previous years. Been away from the fold with a couple of Boxster’s in ownership since 2019.
Couldn’t resist returning for a try out in the latest ND Homora spec car. Lovin the Recaro / BBS / Brembo offering, with new tech and some ? Improvements to the steering and lsd.
Managed to get a decent trade-in and deal setup with Johnson’s Swindon. Car coming into stock late September - can’t wait.
Only disappointments - colour options aren’t fantastic in the current range, so we’ve gone for undercoat and surprised the alloy pedal set wasn’t standard in the top spec!
When ever I visit my local dealer to get parts for my NBFL it never ceases to amaze me how dull the current colour pallet is, if I had to buy one it would be red for the want of anything else that is vaguely appealing. If I wanted a grey car I’d go and find myself a 1964 Austin A40 countryman to restore. Welcome back to the fold wishing you many smiles per mile in your new ride.
Planning all the little jobs. Ceramic coating / interior protection to do. Some gentle running -in. Road trip planning before the really horrible weather sets in.
Thinking I should get it Dintrol (or similar) protected from new - based in the midlands, any local recommends for this task (not sure I fancy a diy approach on this !).
Anything else I need - do owners still swop the door shut bushes ?
Audi had a huge success with their Nando Grey. I viewed the Mazda take on this recently. It’s sort of okay but just misses the sweet spot.
I don’t like white cars mostly but the ND gets pretty close to a colour that fits a cars styling.
On this colour suiting styling I viewed a black ND today. Black is usually a good choice until you have to look after it. It just seemed to swallow all the styling. It looked good, just not optimal.
I may be talking out of my ■■■■ here but you will have to live with stuff that’s visual. Whereas all the stuff about mileage and rust you will fix when you find it
Sorry - I was a bit slow on the collection photo share from last week.
Gotta say, the ND looks great in Aero Grey with the various black contrast parts - really pleased how that’s turned out (I’d only seen an RF in Aero in Exclusive trim).
Drove about 65miles home from collection - and I’ve got say, hell yeah - love it. I’d nervously traded a Boxster 981 2.7 against this car. We had a 2018 ND Sport Nav + before and couldn’t get on with it post our NC, but gotta say this up-dated ND is superb.
Recaro seats are an improvement in comfort and support. The detail trim around the transmission tunnel is nicer and I noticed my phone fits deeper into the position ahead of the gear stick. New tech screen is a nice improvement . The rimless rear view mirror is better - less baulky .
Driving I remember how light and agile the MX5 is - lovely. Really like the slightly narrow steering wheel rim. This car handles nicer than our previous ND - the 2018 ND always felt a little nervous and not quite right (we had it from new). This latest car feels more assured and the steering feel is an improvement.
Really pleased we’ve stopped back to an MX5. The car was nicely prepared by Johnsons in Swindon, straight forward dealings and overall a decent deal. Got really lucky collecting last Friday - a break in the terrible rain soaked week and dry roads to come home were a bonus.
Car is tucked away in the garage - OnCall at work this week and I need to prep and do a ceramic coat on the paint work (normally use Gtechniq products), before we head out into the Autumn weather and roads.
