"'Go Faster' Decals applied

Decided to get the 5 looking a little more individual

Much research followed and had these professionally applied today by a graphics company near me, inspired by this from eBay:

I appreciate that these may not be to everyone’s taste, but I think they look great

I like them, nice to see the effect

Like that, subtle and not overdone

Like, but then i am biased.  Dont know why more people dont do it when you consider the increase in performance it gives…

OK, looks good,

Where do people get them from

Thanks

Ned

I like it too, but then I am also biased

Next task, fit some Carlos Fandango wide wheels?

Like them all. Can’t make my mind up whether I prefer the ones that stop at the back of the door or the ones that carry on to the rear arch. Certainly all in the right spot, doesn’t detract from the lines of the car, if anything breaks up the slightly slab sided look of the car. Don’t shoot me down in flames on that one, remember the Mk1 had an indentation running front to back and the Mk2 a large bulge along the bottom of the door. Mk3 door has less detailing hence my use of the ‘slab sided’ term.

Really does need a GT badge on the boot to gain the highest performance boost though. Personally I’m still struggling to get the beaded seat covers to fit properly over the side bolsters.

Can I ask which company fitted them,do they have any other designs and how much this would cost ?

I bought them from eBay for £19.99…I was wary that the vinyl would be poor quality, but that could not be further than the truth

Fitting was £40

The fitter has done a lot of these. He said they were very well produced with quality vinyl

The company that fitted them was ‘Expression Tints’ of Shipley West Yorks

Personally bought mine off eBay from this seller “loobyloococo”, price over 1yr ago £23.99.

There is a bit of an art to fitting them, but plenty of youtube instruction vids for putting on stripes.

Having now seen other peoples I would probably have gone with the ones that stop at the door as the gap between the sill cover and rear wing it as an angle and was a bit tricky getting this lined up.

I have had no problems with the stripes ,they have not lifted at the edges, and my car gets washed a lot with a power washer and is left outdoors all year round.

In the States do these, what colour would suit our red cars Ned?

I have taken a shine to the Kuro’esque Red over Silver,

 something like this

pjr,

Silver looks good and would go with the wheels,

I wondered about black being more subtle, but not sure what it would look like in the flesh.

Ned

i’m a dunce and I fitted mine … masking tape the spies to the car before fitting to get the lines. Spray the bodywork (which you have already washed naturally) with a mild solution of soapy water apply stripes. Squeeze out air bubble and let dry… when dry slice gaps with sharp blade.

Oh i like those - very nice; i prefer the continuous line front to back

Hmm, in the old days of Mk1 Cortinas etc they were heavy vinyl mostly used to hide the rust bubbling through along the bottom of the doors.

But these look so much better and really suit the car. I could almost be tempted…

I like them a lot. Not many cars have stripes these days which I think is a bit of a shame.

oooh, I like stickers

First I was subtle with a pinstripe in the front and rear bumpers

Then I got carried away a bit …

10BHP boost at least
