I know you will be learning all the time, good start to the season, am suspecting with that beginning you are sure to bag some podium finishes by the end.

Alan

Good Luck

Ok so Round 2 is opon us…

Saturday

Up at 4.30 and out the house with the car and trailer for the slog down To Silverstone.

The Roads are Dark and Wet. With Plenty of bad weather Forecast…

I arrive In a shower to see evereyone Huddled under Rodders Awning looking like they had had a rough Nigh of storms.

The car was unloaded and a few fianl checks were made. the rest of the morning was spent talking to the others and
Trying to double guess the changing conditions.

We are called to qualifying just as the rain starts…Oh crap!

The gentle rain turns into a full and prolonged torential down pour. Many of the experienced drivers saying it was the worst rain they had driven in.

And they wern’t wrong. I know have a true awe to F1 drivers who drive in such conditions

The rain was outside.
it was on the inside of your screen and all over your visor.

And then it was game on!!

I couldnt see the edges of the track…You needed to be within 2 cars length to be able to the car in front even with the rain lights on.
I can honestly say it was horrible.
I stayed in the position i left the Assembly area.you could get aqua planing going down the straights the car pulling one way or another
! car went off and ended stranded…I could hardly see the franticly waved yellow flags and at that point
my mission was just to get round and hopefully make the places up in the race.
Qualified 10th with a best lap of 1:39.496 and a paltry 59.30 MPH average.
Rodders pulling a 1:25.051 and 69.37 Average.
But the car was safe and undamaged…if very wet.

Paddock time and we all wait hoping dry weather will come.Especialy me.

Rooster tails from the Chevrons…after we had raced.

RACE 1

Starting from the back of the grid I had a reasonable start and was settling in ok
when Car 57 spun and made several cars scatter mid corner.
Several laps of tustling took place and Id worked upto 6th place but a big drifty near off saw a Rejuvinated Car 57 nip past me driven well by Duncan Freeman.
There was still a battle behind me betwen No8 Matt Tidmarsh + 17 John Tilsley.

I tied to over the last 3 laps to push car 57 but ended up finishing 7th.
1 small incident took place…No names mentioned

A Video of race 1 is being Rendered now.

the night time a BBQ was held and we sat around I had My 1st beer in 2 weeks now Im on a racing Diet…No dont laugh …it cheaper thab Carbon fibre…Im 90 kilos of short arse!!

My traveling entourage matches anything RedBull has
As I settled into my luxury tent…the Rain started again and the wind rose…It rained nearly all night

I slept with on dream in my head.

Please be dry for tommorow…

Race 2

A cold damp Morning Helped along by a shower a full english and a black coffee…the diets going well.

as 11.00 aproaches the sun shines as I climb into the race suit.
Id added about 15 litres of fuel to the car and it showed a 1/4 tank…that plenty.

But the doubt worm was going round in my head…"stick some more in you fool, ya gonna run out and look a TIT"
So I did and when I checked the gauge next it was showin over 1/2 full…Damn must get used to sticking with tmy first Guess
Still had just under 1/2 at the end and the car weighed in at 1147…The diets working!!

I had a clean start from the grid and tried valiantly to hang onto car 9 Clive Bussey…But he was just that little bit quicker thru some corners
Especialy Copse Out best time were 1.15.484 for Clive and 1.15.851 for myself but Im not consistent enough and that meant a 17 second gap by the end of the race.

I had knocked 24 second of my qualifying lap time and increased the average speed to 76.01

Finishing 5th overal

Race 2 video will be posted when done
Probally in low def as I dont have 20 hours to upload 2 hi def videos.

Thanks to all the Help and support from the other drivers.
and the comment from people following this Blog.
And I can say 20 minutes of Racing beats 4 Hours of trackday driving…even when it wet!

 Good Stuff Alan.

Get out of the habit of following though and start looking through the car in front, and don’t back off when you get close!

Yeah, don’t want to make a mess in the lucky pants Wink
